Education, science, public authorities and IT companies join forces to preserve architectural heritage

On Tuesday, 24 March, a landmark agreement establishing the Architectural Heritage Preservation Consortium was signed at Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (SPbGASU). The event brought together key industry stakeholders: alongside SPbGASU, the consortium includes KGIOP, the Russian Association of Restorers, and the technology companies Nanosoft Development and Wizardsoft.

The main goal of the new alliance is to establish a systematic approach to preserving architectural heritage. Consortium members intend to coordinate research activities, launch new joint educational programmes that reflect changes in legislation, and actively apply advanced digital tools in restoration.

The discussions placed particular emphasis on the professionalism and continuity of SPbGASU’s school of restoration. Participants unanimously recognised that for decades the university has maintained its position as a leading source of restoration professionals, rapidly updating its curricula to reflect changing realities and requirements.

The parties see the new consortium as an effective communication mechanism that will soon make it possible to develop a roadmap for comprehensive heritage preservation.
